Tender and Juicy Turkey Tonight we did a pre-Thanksgiving trial run. Bought 3 gallons of peanut/soy oil and a 13 lb. turkey. Followed the manual’s instructions, 4 minutes per pound (we don’t own a meat thermometer), and after 52 minutes cooking time, 10 minutes draining and resting time, and 10 more long minutes of carving time, we dug in.
